JOHANNESBURG (IRIN) - More rains are forecast for Southern Africa into next week, threatening countries already grappling with the impact of recent flooding. Last week, torrential rains hit Mozambique destroying houses, roads and bridge in some provinces.

Maputo - The first phase of an emergency logistics operation involving the Dutch company, TNT, and Mozambique’s Companhia de Sena (Sena Sugar) finished yesterday after delivering life-saving food supplies for some 32,000 people in flood-affected communities near the mouth of the Zambezi River.

Maputo – An independent United Nations human rights expert has called for greater efforts to provide those displaced by floods in Mozambique with adequate housing and other services so they can start to rebuild their lives.
