More than 3 million US dollars was the amount spent by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) over the last four years, to strengthen food security for over 3,000 families in need and or affected by HIV/AIDS in the Mozambican provinces of Sofala and Manica.

December 16 - The Mozambican parliament, the Assembly of the Republic, on last Thursday unanimously passed a bill defending the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS, which was formulated with UNDP”s assistance at the technical formulation stages of the legislative process.

"Mais parceiros sexuais, mais risco de HIV! Pare e Pense!" ("More sexual partners, bigger the HIV risk! Stop and Think!")

Maputo, 24 de Novembro de 2008 – A Mozambican delegation, lead by the Minister of Women and Social Action, Virgília Matabele, will take part of the 3rd Worldwide Congress Against Sexual Exploitation of Child and Adolescents in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 25th to 28th of November this year.

Maputo, 16 October 2008 - In the lead up to World Food Day, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) issued a challenge to its directors in more than 80 countries worldwide to develop new kinds of nutritional foods using local produce. The micro-nutrient rich products will be designed to reduce child malnutrition, especially among children under two.

The 2nd of September, the two Electoral Management Bodies in Mozambique, CNE (National Commission for Elections) and STAE (Technical Secretariat for Administration of Elections), launched a Media Centre in Maputo. It is expected that the Centre will provide a handy means to provide stories on electoral processes using widely viewed television shows, radio networks and print media.
