January 2009 - In May this 2008, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon joined with staff at UN Headquarters in New York to officially launch UN Cares, the UN system-wide workplace programme on HIV/AIDS. This is now being translated into action in Mozambique by the last years establishment of a UN Cares working group.

The United Nations works, at the request of the Government of Mozambique, to support national development efforts, respond to emergencies and ensure peace and security for all Mozambicans.
